Edmond "Ted" Lapidus was a Parisian designer born to Russian immigrant parents in 1929. Ted Lapidus is the man to thank for making the androgynous look accepted and fashionable. An iconic designer of the 60s, Ted Lapidus is credited for making blue jeans mainstream, for convincing Twiggy to wear a suit and tie instead of a miniskirt, and for designing the suit that John Lennon wore on the cover of the Beatles’ Abbey Road album, among many other things.
